State Cup & Presidents CUP For 2020 Cancelled

Friday April 24, 2020

KSYSA Member Club Administrators & Directors of Coaching,

With US Youth Soccer return to play date pushed back to May 15th, the uncertainty of when we will return to the field, and limitations on how training will look in the near future, the KSYSA Board of Directors and State Staff have decided to cancel the 2020 Kansas State Cup, Presidents Cup and Junior State Cup.

We listen to concerns and recommendations of our member clubs, keeping in mind that every member club has a unique set of circumstances they are dealing with at this time. We feel this is the best decision for everyone involved with KSYSA.

All teams that registered for the Kansas State Cup, Presidents Cup and Junior State Cup should know that NO REGISTRATION FEES WERE PROCESSED.  All teams did was simply apply for the event and if you log into your teams got soccer account you will see the event there but still listed as “Applied” rather than “Accepted.”  And under the paid column you should still have a “Not paid” status.  All bond checks that were submitted by teams or clubs will be shredded.  All clubs that paid for their team registration fees with a club check will be shredded too.   Should you have questions of see any funds as processed please contact our State Tournament Director Phil Gomez at pgomez@kansasyouthsoccer.org.

We will work with sanctioned leagues to make sure we provide a safe environment when we are able to return to play.  We will also, make sure you get the information you need as it becomes available to continue to make the decisions you need to move forward with your organizations during time of uncertainty as it pertains to try-outs, the 2020-21 playing season, training restrictions, and possible travel restrictions for interstate travel for games.

We don’t want to make any predictions of when we are going to be back on the field or what it will look like for the near future.  The ever changing information we are given from US Youth Soccer, The State of Kansas and local municipalities, makes it hard for us to determine when we are allowed to return to business as usual.

Thank you for continuing to help with the messaging with your clubs about KSYSA tournaments and programing.  If you have any questions, please let me know.

Yours in Soccer,

Joe Burger
